چکیده

In this paper we consider the problem of lossy coding of correlated vector sources with uncoded side information available at the decoder. In particular, we consider lossy coding of source x ∈ R which is correlated with source y ∈ R , known at the decoder. The general non-linear mapping between y and x capturing the correlation between the two sources can be approximated through a linear model y = Hx+n in which n is independent of x. This model can be viewed as a fictitious communication channel with input x and output y. Utilizing a powerful signal processing technique, namely channel equalization, we convert the original vector source coding problem into a set of manageable scalar source coding problems. The scalar source coding problems can be solved using the existing distributed source coding algorithms that are primarily designed for the simple correlation model y = x + n where x and y are scalar jointly Gaussian sources.

Wyner-Ziv Coding of Still Images with Rate Estimation at the Encoder

We develop a Wyner-Ziv still image codec with decoder feedback, based on a Rate Compatible Punctured Turbo (RCPT) code. Within this framework, two methods of pairing source data with side information are compared and found to be similar in performance. The architecture is modified into a Wyner-Ziv image codec with rate estimation at the encoder. The proposed rate estimator is the mean of the tu...

Wyner-Ziv Video Coding With Universal Prediction

The coding efficiency of a Wyner-Ziv video codec relies significantly on the quality of side information extracted at the decoder. The construction of efficient side information is difficult thanks in part to the fact that the original video sequence is not available at the decoder. Conventional motion search methods are widely used in the Wyner-Ziv video decoder to extract side information. Th...

Transform-domain Wyner-Ziv Codec for Video

In current interframe video compression systems, the encoder performs predictive coding to exploit the similarities of successive frames. The Wyner-Ziv Theorem on source coding with side information available only at the decoder suggests that an asymmetric video codec, where individual frames are encoded separately, but decoded conditionally (given temporally adjacent frames) could achieve simi...

Distributed Video Coding Based on Coding Mode-aided Motion Compensation and Robust Mdeia Hashing

To meet the requirement of distributed video coding (DVC) in resource-limited sensor networks, Wyner-Ziv theorem-based source coding with side information only available at the decoder states that an intraframe encoder with interframe decoder system can achieve comparable coding efficiency of a conventional interframe encoder and interframe decoder system. In this paper, firstly, a block discre...
